Christie Wilke, LPC Associate, supervised by Dr. Ellen Melton, LPC-S, is a counselor specializing in cognitive therapy for children and youth in Austin, TX and the surrounding areas. Christie has 15 years of experience assessing and counseling children and adolescents in the school system, serving as an Autism consultant, and helping parents. She has a primary certificate in REBT from the Albert Ellis Institute and practices cognitive therapy to help children and youth lead more fulfilling & less disturbed lives. In addition to the principals of REBT, she uses DBT techniques to assist clients in improving relationships & communication skills, connecting with others, decreasing worries, and generally boosting overall mood. She is also trained by Rick Levinson in the use of EMDR to decrease disturbance, build resources, and alleviate fears. EMDR is a highly effective tool to help deal with nightmares, fears, and traumatic events.
